Job Description

McKINNEYVENTO TUTOR

(GRANTFUNDED POSITION)

POSITION: McKINNEYVENTO TUTOR

LOCATION: Community Locations To Be Determined

JOB SUMMARY:The McKinneyVento Tutor provides afterschool tutorial services and homework assistance to participating students. This position may be virtual or facetoface. This is a grant position contingent upon need and the availability of funds.

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services (or Designee) and McKinneyVento Liaison Specialist

EDUCATION CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

At the time of application the candidate must have:

  1. Bachelors Degree
  2. Maryland State Department of Education certification in elementary or secondary education preferred.
  3. Two years successful teaching experience.

KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge in the use of technology for productivity and learning.
  2. Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to students teachers and parents.
  3. Demonstrated ability to improve achievement for all students.
  4. Demonstrated exemplary communication skills both oral and written.
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
  6. Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Works with the Director of Student Services and the McKinneyVento Liaison Specialist to assist in the planning and implementation of tutoring students complying with the McKinneyVento grant requirements.
  2. Collects monitors and records data pertaining to the McKinneyVento grant. Shares updated results with the McKinney Vento Liaison Specialist on a frequent basis.
  3. Reports weekly to the McKinneyVento Liaison Specialist.
  4. Provides homework assistance and assistance with individual assignments to participating students.
  5. As directed by grant manager provides communication about program and students progress to parents on a regular basis.

OTHER DUTIES:

Performs related work as required by the grant manager and the Director of Student Services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical learning environment.

UNUSUAL DEMANDS:May be subject to flexible hours.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Grantfunded positions. Rate of pay: $41.00/hr 1 hour per scheduled day 4:00 p.m.5:00 p.m. in locations to be determined by student need.

Possibility of additional sessions based on grant funding and student need.

FLSA:Exempt.

EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION:Immediate vacancies.

References must be directly related to education experience and must include immediate supervisor.

State law requires that anyone hired after October 1 1986 who will have contact with school children must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I9 in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.

Pursuant to Section 6113.2 of the Education Article Annotated Code of Maryland House Bill 486 Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention all applicants are required to report all former employers in which you may have had direct contact with minors. Applicants should also include contact information for organizations in which you have volunteered coached mentored tutored or otherwise had direct contact with minors.
