Job Description

Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our course development team in the School of Applied Healths newest program Diploma Nutrition and Food Service Management. We are seeking motivated professionals to share their expertise in the industry to build and enhance the program. The School of Applied Health invites applications for developing the core nutrition and food service management courses such as Food and Nutrition Career Foundations Safe Food Handling and Sanitation Practices Foundations of Food Services Management Nutrition Fundamentals Through the Lifecycle Procurement and Inventory Management for Food Service and Menu Planning and Design for Health and Wellness.

This remote position will provide successful candidates with an exciting and dynamic opportunity to work with a team of professionals dedicated to the advancement of the School of Applied Health. The successful candidates will work independently for the most part to create and assemble course content that will provide the best possible educational experience for our students.

Sheridan employees are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds experiences and individual learning styles.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Working very closely with the Associate Dean and the Curriculum Advisor and in collaboration with other members of development team;
  • Developing course outlines in alignment with the Program Learning Outcomes applicable regulations and standards of practice in Ontario;
  • Developing Course Learning Outcomes specifically related to the course description in alignment with the Program Learning Outcomes;
  • Defining course critical performance statements;
  • Developing evaluation matrix and assigned specific evaluation tools to each evaluation method with the associated rubrics;
  • Designing the course content within each module and evaluation style;
  • Providing revision support based on committee feedback received;
  • Attending virtual meetings with the Curriculum Development Team;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate(s) will also meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Food and Nutrition with five years of work experience as a Certified Nutrition Manager;
  • Registered Dietitian;
  • Must currently be a Certified Nutrition Manager through the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management;
  • Preference will be given to individuals with a variety of experience in the industry including experience in managing budgets for clinical nutrition and/or food and nutrition service departments;
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Certification;
  • Food Handlers Certificate with:
    • Excellent knowledge in crosssectional food business operations and supply chain;
    • Experience with universal and accessible design is an asset;
    • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the postsecondary level is an asset;
    • Network of contacts with other professionals in the Healthcare and Nutrition industry is an asset;
    • A critical understanding of problem solving and innovative conceptual and strategic thinking.
