Under general supervision the Stockroom Support Technician prepares materials for teaching laboratories including gases liquids solutions and solids unknowns glassware and other technical equipment while following all applicable safety rules chemical hygiene and other standards. The incumbent will assist instructors in selected analytical and physical chemistry laboratories by operating instruments distributing materials and equipment to and picking up materials and equipment from laboratories and aiding research students and faculty with requests for research support identifying equipment and materials needs.
Participates in the ordering storing and distribution of all equipment instructional materials compressed gases packages and services provided by the stockroom.
- Assist in minor maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment needed for student laboratories especially analytical and physical laboratory instrumentation including spectroscopy electrochemistry and chromatography.
- Maintain supply inventories maintain equipment inventories collaborate with asset management to relocate or remove unused equipment and keep work areas clean and tidy.
- Develop new instructional materials run experiments as pilots improve student experiments as necessary and as directed introduce new methods edit student laboratory manuals produce instructional videos and troubleshoot student experiments as necessary.
- Assist in training faculty staff students and student assistants in new procedures or equipment.
- Staff the stockroom window and perform record keeping.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
