Description
In an environment of continuous quality improvement the Breast Diagnostic Navigator provides a timely process of breast diagnostic services from screening to biopsy to enhance quality breast health care and timely cancer diagnosis. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Functions:
- Actively participates in tumor board discussions as applicable.
- Collects documents and reports clinical data for quality indicators as developed by cancer committee breast program leadership committee and/or director.
- Participate in community outreach events to promote awareness of breast cancer and services offered by MHS.
- Active member of breast program leadership committee and subcommittees as designated
- Serves as a consistent care coordinator ensuring timely access and seamless coordination of services throughout the continuum of care.
- Responsible for facilitating rapid scheduling coordination followup care and tracking patients to ensure completion of recommended treatment plan.
- Calls patients to discuss findings recommendations and assists with setting up appointments.
- Prepares reports and maintains records of services rendered according to specific procedures.
- Provides a safe environment for patients and demonstrates concern for providing care of the highest quality.
- Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Completion of patient navigation education training within 18 months of hire required.
- Current radiologic licensure from the State of Ohio Department of Health and ARRT NMTCB or ARDMS required. If not a registered radiologic technologist OH License as a Registered Nurse required.
- Bachelors Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year healthcare experience preferred.
- BLS certification required.
Special Knowledge Skills Training:
- An understanding of breast anatomy physiology and a basic knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
- Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills.
- Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals.
Compensation Details: Education experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
