SCHEDULE: Fulltime 75 hours biweekly)

ABOUT INUVIK COMMUNITY CORPORATION (ICC)


Under the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA) each Inuvialuit communityAklavik Inuvik Paulatuk Sachs Harbour Tuktoyaktuk and Ulukhaktokhas a Community Corporation governed by six elected Directors and one elected Chair. These Community Corporations provide a direct link between local beneficiaries and the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) and its subsidiaries ensuring that community needs are met and voices are heard.

Inuvik meaning living place is the regional hub of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region and home to IRCs main offices. Established in 1958 as the first planned community above the Arctic Circle Inuvik serves as a key administrative cultural and economic center connecting the region through the Dempster Highway. With a population of around 3400 Inuvik remains a place where residents maintain strong family ties to surrounding settlements while continuing traditional activities on the land.


JOB SUMMARY

The Summer Student Assistant will support the delivery of programs that teach traditional Inuvialuit activities and engage youth through cultural education. Responsibilities include assisting with outdoor activities preparing program materials and working closely with the Brighter Futures Program Coordinator to ensure smooth operations while fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for youth participation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be/have:

  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated interest in working with youth.
  • Dependable teamoriented and able to follow instructions effectively.
  • A passion for promoting and preserving Inuvialuit cultural traditions.
