Job Description

Position Announcement

The Department of Health & Human Performance at Utah Tech University in St. George Utah invites applications for a fulltime 9month tenuretrack faculty position in Recreation and Sport Management to start Fall Semester 2025. This position directly supports the Bachelors degree in Recreation and Sport Management and associated certificates emphases and minors through course instruction and collaborative curriculum management. Candidates may also support the online Master in Science in Sport Management program. Candidates with specializations in sports marketing revenue generation and analytics are preferred but consideration will be given to all qualified applicants. Other responsibilities for the position include support for student learning and success active participation in university and professional service and engagement in scholarly and creative activities. Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 credits per academic year usually a 44 course schedule primarily inperson.
  • Design curriculum to enhance students experiences reflective of the Universitys theme active learning. active life utilizing both inperson and online modalities.
  • Participate in University governance by serving on university college and department committees and engage in community and professional discipline service activities.
  • Serve on the graduate admissions committee for the Masters in Sport Management.
  • Assist with student assessment hold regular office hours attend regular department meetings and vote on department and program issues.
  • Engage in scholarly and creative activities resulting in the sharing of knowledge through teaching presentations publications and other appropriate outlets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director Department Chair and/or Dean.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in a closely related field with at least one graduate degree in Sport Management. ABD candidates will be considered.
  • Evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels (finalists will be required to demonstrate competence via a teaching demonstration).
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students staff and colleagues both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships across disciplines and with external sport and leisure organizations.
  • Evidence of developed or ability to develop contributions of scholarly and creative activities consistent with graduate faculty status.
  • Online teaching experience and course development preferred.
  • At least three 3 years of practical industryspecific experience preferred.
  • Experience developing and working with student clubs preferred.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Fulltime 9month) tenuretrack faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2025 with pay and benefits starting July 1 2025. Annual salary of $66000$69000 depending on qualifications and experience with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:The Health and Human Performance Department offers a B.S. in Exercise Science Population Health and Recreation and Sport Management as well as a M.A.T. in Athletic Training a Masters of Healthcare Administration and a Masters in Sport Management. The department is housed in the College of Health Sciences. The department enrolls over 700 undergraduate students and over 50 graduate students in the associated degree programs as well as serves roughly forty percent of the campus study body each semester through the activity program (FAST). The department values experiential learning and student engagement supporting the Universitys approach of active learning active life. The Bachelors in Recreation and Sport Management degree was created in 2017 and the Masters in Sport Management was created in 2023. Both programs have strong relationships with the institutions athletics department campus recreation and community sport and leisure organizations. The programs focus on fostering healthy lifestyles effective management of organizations and the social and economic development of communities.
