Title: Graduate Research Assistant (PACMED)

Other Conditions: Special funds. Appointment to begin February 2025 or soon thereafter. Renewal contingent upon availability of funds program needs and satisfactory performance.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with project implementation under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Project Staff with duties including but not limited to the following:
  • Assist with research on diverse topics such as longdistance technology education programs and their role in the South Pacific/Pacific area.
  • Assist with the admission process including communicating with potential candidates to follow up on applications.
  • Assist with programmatic operations including but not limited to financials hiring travel and other documents.
  • Assist with supporting candidates in their courses as needed either through technology training or serving as a teaching assistant.
  • Assist with team and stakeholder meetings and documentations.
  • Assist with data collection entry and cleaning (identifying inaccurate data or recoding the data for analysis).
  • Assist with writing and/or editing webposts project reports and other written documents.
  • Assist in grant writing and the development of new funding sources.
  • Assist with dissemination activities related to project deliverables including developing training materials compiling resources and updating website contents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Fulltime graduate student in good academic standing 3.0 GPA) in Business Education Public Administration or related field at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
  2. Excellent writing and editorial skills communication skills and attention to detail.
  3. Demonstrated ability to coordinate focus groups and to facilitate discussions.
  4. Demonstrated ability to prioritize plan and organize tasks.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work in crossdiscipline environments.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  7. Basic proficiency with Excel e.g. data filters pivot tables and experience with data entry and cleaning.
  8. Ability to travel independently and in a timely manner to various geographical locations. Requirement may be fulfilled by a valid Hawaii Drivers license (Class 3 comparable drivers license or other means of transportation which meets position needs.

Desirable Qualifications
  1. Experience with federally funded projects.
  2. Experience with writing reports.
  3. Experience in working with diverse groups.
