Job Description
Requirements
- Support students 1:1 and in small groups across primary secondary or college settings.
- Work with students with ASD ADHD SEMH and other learning difficulties providing tailored support.
- Assist teachers in adapting lessons to meet individual needs using PECS Makaton and sensory-based learning.
- Help students develop confidence independence and social skills through structured interventions.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and provide emotional support when needed.
- Work collaboratively with teachers SENCOs and therapists to create a nurturing learning environment.
- Encourage inclusion and engagement ensuring all students have access to learning opportunities.
- Graduates in Psychology Education SEN Social Work or related fields looking for hands-on experience.
- Experienced Teaching Assistants Youth Workers or Support Workers with a passion for SEN.
- A patient compassionate and proactive approach to working with children and young people.
- Knowledge or experience of SEN strategies such as PECS Makaton Team Teach or de-escalation techniques (desirable but not essential).
- A willingness to learn and take part in ongoing CPD and training.

Education
Postgraduate qualification or accredited training in SEND (e.g. National Award for SEN Coordination, Autism Education Trust, dyslexia/SpLD or SEMH specialism). Proficiency in alternative/augmentative communication methods Makaton, PECS, AAC devices. Experience using evidence-based interventions such as TEACCH, SCERTS, or Positive Behaviour Support. Training in Team-Teach, MAPA or similar de-escalation and safe-handling approaches. Competence with assistive ed-tech tools and adaptive software
