The City of Auburn Parks Arts & Recreation department is looking for a Recreation Intern to work with us this summer! Our programs are wellestablished and very well attended you will never be bored!

Join our team and gain valuable handson experience in recreation programming event planning and community engagement! This internship offers a dynamic and fastpaced environment perfect for students looking to develop leadership organizational and teamwork skills. Youll have the opportunity to work closely with experienced recreation professionals contribute creative ideas and make a meaningful impact on the Auburn community. Whether youre leading activities assisting with logistics or helping run largescale events this role will providepractical experience to support your future career in parks and recreation.

Help plan and implement summer programs within the department including:
  • Youth Camps
  • Teen Camps
  • Adventure Camps
  • Bike programs
  • Events
  • And more!

Primary Duties

In this role you will:

  • Assist the recreation division in planning and running summer camps
  • Gain handson experience in program coordination
  • Contribute to both large and smallscale events
  • Learn about program development and implementation

We know a big part of internships is what you will get from your time with the City. We see the learning objectives for this opportunity as:
  • Learning how to implement recreation programs
  • Understanding large and smallscaleevent planning and implementation
  • Learning about history and educationprogram management
  • Learning about grant reporting
  • Understanding program and event budgets

Minimum Qualifications

To be eligible for this internship position you must:

  • Have ahigh school diplomaor equivalent; AND
  • Beenrolled in a Recreation or related field degree program(Associates Bachelors Masters); AND
  • Possess and retain a valid state drivers licensewithout impending loss.

You will be required to obtain a valid CPR and First Aid certificate within three 3 weeks of appointment if you are not already certified.

You may be required to obtain a King County Public Health Department Food Handlers Permit within one 1 month of employment as a condition of work.

We are asking for a commitment through our 10week program fromJune 16th August 22nd 2025.Preference will be given to candidates that are available to work up to 40 hours per week throughout the program.If you are a top candidate your availability and assigned schedule will be discussed with you before moving into the background check process.

The pay rates for this position will be offered as follows:

Freshman & Sophomores: Step 1 $19.42

Juniors & Seniors: Step 2 $20.95

Postgraduates: Step 3 $22.48
