Position Description
SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks to hire a Promoting Recruitment Opportunity Diversity Inclusion and Growth plus PRODiG postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Community Health Sciences School of Public Health.
The SUNY PRODiG Fellowship program aims to 1 increase the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity equity and inclusion; and 2 strengthen the pipeline for retention and support of those faculty.
The fellow will contribute to advancing the diversity equity inclusion and belonging initiatives of the institution and will be mentored by a committee of faculty with a proven track record in supporting the career growth of earlystage faculty and an externally funded research program with a focus on health equity. The PRODiG fellow hired for this position will engage in a 2year fellowship with a highly competitive salary and with startup funding to support professional development.

Position Summary
The PRODiG fellow will engage in advanced training structured mentorship and the development of professional skills that prepare the fellow for academic positions in public health and associated fields of study. This fulltime position will be supported by a faculty mentorship committee with a strong history of successful mentorship and independent research funding and will be guided by a codeveloped individual development plan (IDP). The primary mentor will provide direct supervision and ongoing support to enhance the fellows skills in grantwriting manuscript writing and publication and professional development.

Required Qualifications:
- Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
- Have a PhD or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to start date.
- Demonstrate personal academic and/or work experience engaging with diversity equity and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity equity and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include but is not limited to an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity equity and inclusion; work volunteer/ unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.
- Have training and research experience in behavioral sciences social sciences epidemiology public health or a related field.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to developing an independent research career in a defined public health area.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Current SUNY students alumni and/or Fellows.
- From a lowincome background (e.g. Pelleligible as undergraduates) were first generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelors degree) have overcome adversity are AmeriCorps alumni or are veterans.
- Trained in advanced quantitative qualitative or mixed methods research methodologies.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm (FullTime)

Salary Range:
The salary for this position is $80000 per year Location Pay.
