Are you passionate about protecting Edmontons infrastructure environment and the wellbeing of its citizens The City of Edmonton is looking for a dedicated Pest Control Operator to join our team! In this role you will utilize Integrated Pest Management techniques to neutralize pests causing structural damage threatening the urban ecosystem and posing risks to public health. This includes managing vertebrate pests structural pests tree pests and biting/stinging insects across various City facilities and public areas. What will you do
- Apply pesticides to manage biting flies structural pests burrowing pests tree pests and other pests in urban areas
- Collaborate with the Pest Management Lab to assess the health of various tree species
- Analyze mosquito sampling data to determine appropriate control methods and supervise seasonal staff
- Manage structural pests in City facilities and vertebrate pests on public lands
- Investigate and resolve pest complaints
- Maintain detailed records of pesticide use
- Calibrate and maintain pest management equipment
- Document data using mobile devices for efficient data collection

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Alberta Pesticide Applicators License (Core) and one or more of the following Biting Fly Certification Landscape Certification Exterior Rodent Certification and Structural Certification
- Firearms Possession and Acquisition License
- Trailer/Backing Course UTV/ATV certification Emergency First Aid Forklift Training and Recreational Watercraft Handlers License
- 1 year of related work experience

Conditions of Employment:
- Compliance with the City of Edmontons safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
- Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Drivers permit is a requirement of this position
- Willingness to work in various environmental conditions and handle pests
Work Environment:
- Exposure to various environmental conditions including extreme temperatures dry/humid/dusty conditions and precipitation
- Potential exposure to chemicals mechanical/electrical hazards and animals
