Entegrus Powerlines requires a Line Supervisor (Northeast Region) for its St. Thomas Operations Centre. This role works in tandem with the Operations leadership team to manage the activities of the operations staff including subforeman journeymen and apprentices across the Company.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule and plan work assign subforemen assemble crews and equipment to complete approved jobs in an efficient safe and cost effective manner;
- Ensure compliance with all applicable corporate and industry safety policies procedures standards and occupational health & safety regulations;
- Work with the Health & Safety Manager to promote a safety culture and ensure that all staff are properly trained and working safely;
- Provide ongoing leadership and coaching to the Operations department including performance reviews feedback assistance with labour relation issues and administration of discipline (if required);
- Monitor training and progress of apprentices including guidance and implementation of improvements as required;
- Develop and execute plans for all functions in the department and provide input into the annual budget process;
- Work closely with the Engineering department in reviewing and approving technical requirements and construction details of proposed work; provide technical assistance/advice and recommendations as required;
- Monitor and review progress of all work on an ongoing basis;
- Review and analyze work with the view of improving methods scheduling cost efficiencies and customer service;
- Coordinate emergency repair and power restoration in accordance with corporate policies/procedures and plans.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Must possess and maintain a Powerline Technician Certificate of Qualification in Ontario. A Red Seal would be an asset. Must possess a Grade 12 Graduation Diploma. A College diploma in a related subject matter area is a definite asset.
- Experience: 10 years of experience as a certified Lineman with demonstrated successful leadership experience (e.g. as a subforeman or in a supervisory role) for at least 5 years.
- Knowledge: Must possess a sound understanding of electrical principles and the operation of the electrical distribution system. Must have thorough knowledge of procedures and equipment needed to complete jobs in a safe and reliable manner including applicable OH&S MOL MOE ESA OEB EUSA rules & regulations. Must have familiarity with scheduling budgeting and financial reporting including cost monitoring and containment tools and techniques.
- Skills: Must have excellent people skills including the ability to mentor staff and effectively communicate health & safety and technical information. Must have an ability to manage disparate opinions and discern when best to seek out consensus or impose decisions. Must have an appreciation of health and safety concerns and the need to balance corporate objectives and employee morale and feedback on an ongoing basis.
- Other: Must possess and maintain a valid DZ Ontario Drivers Licence and maintain an acceptable Drivers Abstract. An AZ/ARZ license would be an asset.
The regular hours of work are from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. daily. The successful applicant will also be expected to be periodically oncall and available to assist and direct after hour emergencies as required. Periodic travel within the Entegrus service territory to support other operational centers (Chatham) is also required. This is a salaried position and includes compensation and benefits in accordance to the companys nonunion benefit program.
