TechnologyWe are looking for a highly skilled Senior Development Specialist with expertise in Java and AWS to lead the design development and deployment of scalable cloudbased applications. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Java development AWS cloud services microservices architecture and DevOps practices. This role involves mentoring junior developers optimizing system performance and collaborating with crossfunctional teams to deliver highquality solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development & Architecture:
Design develop and maintain scalable Javabased applications on AWS.
Implement microservices architecture using Java Spring Boot.
Optimize application performance and security in a cloud environment.
Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment:
Design and deploy AWS cloud solutions using services such as EC2 S3 Lambda API Gateway RDS and ECS.
Develop and optimize microservices architecture hosted on AWS.
Ensure high availability and fault tolerance of applications using AWS tools and best practices.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration:
Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
Collaborate with DevOps security and architecture teams to ensure best practices.
Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards.
Monitoring & Optimization:
Monitor application performance using AWS CloudWatch.
Optimize application scalability cost efficiency and security on AWS.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently.
Security & Compliance:
Implement best practices for security and compliance in cloudbased applications.
Ensure secure coding practices and AWS security configurations (IAM VPC Security Groups etc..
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
5 years of Java development experience.
3 years of handson experience with AWS cloud services.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in Java 8 and frameworks like Spring Boot Hibernate and RESTful APIs.
Handson experience with AWS Lambda API Gateway S3 RDS and ECS.
Experience with Docker and containerization strategies.
Proficiency in Amazon RDS for SQL Server and Oracle databases.
Familiarity with at least one message queue (Kafka SQS RabbitMQ).
Strong understanding of CI/CD Git and Infrastructure as Code.
Knowledge of monitoring tools like CloudWatch or ELK Stack.
Soft Skills:
Strong problemsolving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS Certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect AWS Certified Developer).
Experience with serverless computing (AWS Lambda Step Functions).
Salary:
$79800.00 $148000.00Pay Type:

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for parttime roles will be prorated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.
