Job Description

As a Senior Systems Engineer you ll design implement and maintain secure scalable IT infrastructure primarily in Windows environments with occasional Linux support. This handson role demands at least 5 years of experience across systems engineering networking security cloud (Azure & AWS) and virtualization plus the autonomy to thrive in a lean IT team.

• Design deploy and maintain Windowsbased infrastructure to ensure reliability security and scalability
  
• Manage networking functions including firewall configuration VPN administration and security protocols
  
• Oversee cloud workloads in Azure and AWS to ensure efficiency reliability and costeffectiveness
  
• Provide support for Linuxbased systems as needed with Windows as the primary focus
  
• Operate across various IT domains including networking security databases and virtualization
  
• Administer and optimize virtualization environments (VMware HyperV) for performance and resource utilization
  
• Implement and enforce cybersecurity best practices while staying updated on security threats and compliance requirements
  
• Diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently identifying root causes with minimal supervision
  
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
  
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations policies and procedures for compliance and knowledge sharing
  

Requirements

The Qualifications We Seek

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Systems Engineer in Windowsbased environments
  
• Proven experience supporting clients in New Zealand or Australia within a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
  
• Strong background in networking including firewall configuration security protocols and VPN administration
  
• Handson experience managing cloud environments in Azure and AWS covering compute networking and security
  
• Proficiency in virtualization platforms such as VMware HyperV or similar
  
• Familiarity with Linux systems (preferred not required)
  
• Broad IT expertise across networking security and cloud infrastructure ideally gained in lean or fastpaced teams
  
• Securityfirst mindset with a strong focus on implementing and maintaining best practices
  
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex system issues
  
• Ability to work independently manage priorities and handle multiple tasks effectively
  
• Clear communicator with a teamoriented approach to collaboration and client engagement
