IMMEDIATE VACANICES:
Department of Finance Permanent FullTime
Receives overthecounter payments for a variety of bills assessments and other charges; determines the amounts to charge the public by applying various rules and regulations and laws; tallies cash and prepares daily cash reports; and performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This class differs from that of the Cashier I in that the Cashier II is responsible for the collection of bills originating from several sources which require the application of different laws rules and procedures in accepting full or partial payment increments assessing penalties and interests on delinquent payments and preparing financial statements as they pertain to the collection of monies from various sources; whereas the Cashier I is primarily concerned with the overthecounter collection and the tallying and preparing of daily cash receipt reports of predetermined amounts where the requirements for applying different laws and billing procedures are negligible.

Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and four years of clerical work experience one of which shall have included responsibility for the collection and accounting of cash.
Knowledge of: office practices and procedures; methods of accounting for and banking cash; various negotiable instruments used in everyday business transactions; the operation of office machines such as cash registers adding and calculating machines.
Ability to: make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately; handle cash rapidly and accurately; keep financial records; meet and deal effectively and tactfully with the public; operate office machines such as cash register adding and calculating machines; learn applicable laws rules and procedures.
Health and Physical Condition:
Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties required.

EXAMINATIONS ARE ADMINISTERED IN THE COUNTY OF MAUl ONLY
The above examination is being given on an opencompetitive basis to establish an eligible list which shall be effective for not more than one year unless extended by the Director of Personnel Services.

PreEmployment/PostOffer Drug Screening Test: All applicants who will enter a safety sensitive position or certain designated categories that the Personnel Services Director has established or who are required by law to be drug tested must pass a preemployment/postoffer drug screening test as a condition of employment. There is no retesting or reevaluation process. Cost for the drug screening test shall be borne by the County of Maui.
