Passionate about books and reading The Books Discovery & Recommendations Experience organization is transforming how millions of customers discover and engage with books across Amazon. We are seeking a Principal Product Manager Tech to drive the product strategy for our next generation of discovery and recommendation experiences and systems leading innovation and setting product direction across the Books organization.
In this strategic leadership role you will define the longterm product and CX vision for Amazons book discovery and recommendation experiences creating innovate solutions that that leverage ML and personalization capabilities at global scale. Youll be responsible for defining multiyear strategies that enable stepfunction improvements in the customer experience. Youll also spearhead initiatives to define measure and improve the quality and relevance of recommendations establishing key metrics that measure the success of discovery experiences.
The ideal candidate combines strong product vision and customer obsession with technical expertise in ML systems with a proven ability to influence across organization boundaries. You will serve as a thought leader in personalization strategy champion the voice of the customer mentor other technical product managers and be looked to as an authority in building customercentric discovery and personalization experiences at scale.
Key job responsibilities
Define and drive the multiyear vision and strategy for Books recommendation and personalization products and systems
Lead strategic product initiatives that span multiple teams and technical domains
Invent and incubate new product concepts that delight customers and drive engagement with books
Partner with engineering and applied science team on architectural decisions and technical direction for ML infrastructure and services
Establish the framework for measuring recommendation quality and relevance across diverse discovery experiences
Drive experimentation to continuously improve the customer experience
Drive the creation of robust measurement systems to track analyze and report on recommendation performance and customer engagement
Mentor product managers and technical leaders on both technical implementation and effective measurement practices
Drive crossorganizational alignment on technical architecture strategic initiatives and success metrics
May manage a small team of technical product managers 1 to 2 direct reports)
Bachelors degree
Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
Experience technical product management
Deep expertise in recommendation systems ML platforms and distributed systems
Experience leading technical strategy and architectural decisions for complex platforms
Track record of delivering enterprisescale technical products through multiple teams
Experience defining and implementing measurement frameworks for MLdriven products
Excellence in product strategy and ability to balance customer technical and business needs
Demonstrated success leading through influence across multiple senior stakeholder groups
Experience managing and developing technical product managers
Experience influencing VPlevel decisions on technical strategy and investments
10 years of technical product or program management experience
MBA preferred

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
