Job Description Summary
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Research Program Assistant for tobacco research studies led by Dr. Tracy Smith and Dr. Matthew Carpenter. These NIH and FDAfunded clinical trials focus on tobacco regulation and tobacco treatment. The candidate will assist the study team in the recruitment of research participants the collection of psychological research data data entry and organizational tasks. The candidate will be directly involved in the collection of questionnaires interview and biological data. Occasional afterhours and weekend work will be required and travel to other MUSC research sites within South Carolina may be needed occasionally.Entity

Remote Work Days: none; fully on campus
Job Duties:
- 35 Study Visits: Applicant will assist with the preparation of gathering study supplies and documents independently conducting study visits collecting biological research specimens assisting with the handling of investigational research products collecting and processing adverse event information.
- 25 Applicant will screen individuals for study eligibility and collect/deliver informed consent for study participants following IRB approved protocols and Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
- 15 Applicant will assist program coordinators with IRB submission processes including amendments and annual reviews. This will include refinements to study protocol and assessments study advertising.
- 5 Applicant will maintain teamwork and professionalism at all times: encouraging and supporting colleagues in completing project work assisting with identifying efficiencies and improving processes identifying and discussing strategies to enhance diversity in clinical trials.
- 5 Applicant will assist with site and study management maintaining compliance with institutions requirements.
- 5 Applicant will identify and help resolve deficiencies in data management practices; i.e. help test data collection systems before studies go live and assist with data management reports to maintain oversight of study metrics and progress.
- 5 Ethics and Participant Safety: Providing data for external monitoring reports and facilitating the completion of data safety monitoring plans employing safeguards for human subject protection.
- 5 Other duties as assigned.
MUSC Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: A high school diploma andfour years ofrelevant program experience. A bachelors degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
Preferred Training and Experience:
2 years of experience working on human research studies
An interest in public health or psychology
Detailed oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks.
