Job Title:

QA/QC Inspector Electrical

Job Summary:

Performs QA/QC inspections of building systems which could include Electrical Mechanical Fire & Life Safety and/or Structural components to ensure quality standards and engineering specifications. The building types and building equipment could include commercial residential and/or industrial. May also perform various building assessmenttype projects. Each inspection program may include client specific protocols as outlined by leadership team. This position requires extensive travel to client project sites.

Fire & Life Safety Inspector:

  • Conduct fire and life safety inspections of residential commercial and industrial buildings to ensure construction aligns with approved plans.
  • Check installation and functionality of fire protection systems (sprinklers clean agent alarms extinguishers).
  • Inspect firerated walls doors and assemblies for proper installation.
  • Identify fire hazards code violations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Reinspect corrected work to confirm compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with local state and federal fire codes such as the NFPA and International Fire Code.
  • Witness testing fire protection systems in collaboration with contractors and fire officials.
  • Certify the buildings fire safety compliance.
  • Review construction and renovation plans to verify compliance with fire codes and life safety regulations.
  • Verify plans comply with applicable fire codes (e.g. NFPA IFC local ordinances).
  • Evaluate the adequacy of fire protection systems (e.g. sprinklers alarms standpipes).
  • Check for compliance with occupancy classifications and egress requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects engineers and contractors to address fire safety concerns.
  • Assist in developing and updating fire and life safety policies standards and procedures.
  • Stay informed about changes in fire codes and industry best practices.
  • Promote fire prevention awareness and emergency preparedness.
  • Prepare detailed reports on findings and corrective measures.
  • Conduct onsite inspections to assess building systems structural integrity and safety compliance.

  • Collect and document data using webbased programs tablets or other electronic tools.

  • Review and analyze construction plans specifications and maintenance records for compliance with applicable standards.

  • Communicate inspection results and compliance issues to property owners contractors and relevant stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with engineers architects and other inspectors to maintain inspection consistency and quality control.

  • Stay updated on evolving building codes safety regulations and industry standards.

  • Maintain projectbyproject communication with senior management and ensure continued flow of information regarding any issues or potential problems which may occur during a site deployment.

  • Meet or exceed performance objectives for productivity and report quality.

  • Protect operations by keeping company information confidential.

  • Deliver outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients needs.

  • Demonstrate BVs guiding principles in support of the companys strategic goals.

  • Follow all documented policies Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BVs quality standards and strategic initiatives.

  • Maintain safe and clean work area/spaces by complying with all procedures rules and regulations.

  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

  • May be required to work overtime with prior authorization from supervisor and/or Program Management.

Education Experience and Certifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Fire Science Safety Management or a related field (preferred).

Experience:

  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Indepth knowledge of fire codes standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency with inspection software and reporting tools.

Certifications and other requirements:

  • Certification as a Fire Inspector (e.g. NFPA ICC) or equivalent.
  • Valid drivers license required with no significant motor vehicle report (MVR) points/violations (clean driving record).
  • Employees who incur $2000 or more per year in companyrelated travel expenses will be required to obtain a Corporate Credit Card. Employees who incur less than $2000 per year in companyrelated travel expenses will be required to have sufficient personal credit to cover their business travel costs.

  • Repetitive use of hands/fingers for keyboard interaction (frequently.

  • Vision (close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Lift and or move (occasionally up to 40 pounds.
  • Operate an electronic tablet in the field for live data collection.
  • Operate a computer (up to 100 of workweek.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle with passengers.
  • Work Environment: The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions moving mechanical components and assemblies frequently exposed to work near energized electrical components and assemblies. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high precarious places fumes or airborne particles extreme cold extreme heat inclement weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level at the project site is usually moderate.

Travel Requirements

Travel by Plane Motor Vehicle Train (up to 75 90 of workweek) to client sites across the U.S.

  • Employees in this role should expect frequent travel.
  • Onsite visits can occur for up to three continuous weeks at a time.
  • Travel and onsite work are anticipated and expected.
