Intense Behavior Coach (IBC)

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Intense Behavior Coach at Goshen Community Schools is responsible for providing training collaboration and modeling of evidencebased interventions to support students with intense behaviors across Tier 1 Tier 2 and Tier 3 settings. This role focuses on building the capacity of staff to implement proactive and responsive behavioral strategies fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

By working directly with educators support staff and administrators the Intense Behavior Coach enhances distirctwide classroom and individualized behavior management practices. Through coaching extensive modeling and professional development this position ensures that students with significant behavioral needs receive consistent structured and researchbased interventions to promote their academic and socialemotional success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Coach and collaborate with district personnel to provide effective data driven strategies and interventions to assist students to achieve personal social and emotional growth within their least restrictive environment.
  • Work with district leaders to address interventions that will improve significant disproportionalty with students identified with Emotional Disability.
  • Conduct systematic data based observations and/or functional behavior analyis for students referred for behavior consultation/interventions at all tier levels.
  • Demonstrate and model behavior strategies within the classroom/school environment with ongoing coaching to ensure effectiveness of strategies and modificiations as needed for improved behavior.
  • Availability to grade level Professional Learning Cummunities (PLCs) to stratagize Tier 1 and Tier 2 behavior interventions. Provide strategies modeling coaching as needed.
  • Create and/or assist with the development of intervention strategies/plan/materials.
  • Serve as a resource to district personel related to psychoeducaitonal social skills on identified areas of conern for students.
  • Serve as a coach and resource to MTSS teams.
  • Provide Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
  • Conduct district wide deescalation training (Teir 1 Tier 2 Tier 3.
  • Connect parents and school personnel with community resources as appropriate.
  • Utilize technology to collect data and provide goal growth/feedback with visuals.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations to assist the multidisciplinary assessment team when considering student eligibility.
  • Work collaboratively with students parents school staff and outside agency personnel.
  • Establish communication and positive connections between the student parent/guardian and district personnel.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and develop Positive Intervention Plans.
  • Attend and participate in meetings committees and professional development activities as assigned.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations of referred students. Duties include but are not limited to observtions parent interviews rating sclaes district wide personel interviews standardized testing if necessary.
  • Participate in case conferences of identified students assisting in writing goals objectives behavior plans supplemental program modifications accommodations or supports to make progress toward goals.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of internetbased IEP (Individuals Education Plan) program.
  • Provide parent and cummunities trainings as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS: Appropriate certification as required by the Indiana Department of Education or one of the following:

  • Masters in Social Work Licensed Clinical Social Worker Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Bachelors in Social Work with a minimum of 3 years of school experience
    • MSW applicant if hired would need to obtain LCSW licensure within 3 years)
  • Three to Five years of experience in School or Mental Health Setting Preferred.
  • Valid Indiana Professional Educators License in the appropriate subject area and/or grade level(s)
  • ABA (AppliedBehavioral Analysis) licensure preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrate exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate proficient computer/technology skills for data collection and interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and timely with students parents school staff and outside agency personnel.
  • Demonstrate exemplary ability to observe and analyze behavior; assess the function of the behavior and generate a Positive Behavior Intervention Plan.
  • Ability to prioritize duties and manage schedule to effectively perform job duties.
  • Prepare and maintain current and accurate records.
  • Participate annually in training for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention/Physical Restraint
  • Proficient in utilizing computer software.
  • Understanding of Special Education policies procedures and practices for children and youth with disabilities; ages 3 to 22.
  • Understanding of identification assessment and educational/programming needs of students with ASD.
  • Knowledge about classroom strategies including databased and evidencebased instructional practices specific to ASD.
  • Ability to communicate and present or provide training to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to promote working relationships among administrators general education teachers paraprofessionals special education teachers speech/language pathologists in supporting ASD students.
  • Experience in special education and specific experience with schoolage learners with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Other qualifications that the Governing Council may require.

HOURS:School year 184 days per year; 40 hours per week; 7:30AM to 3:30PM

SALARY:Rate is dependent upon education and experience. (Schedule #251A)
