Position Announcement
Associate Professor of Instrumental Music and Director of Instrumental Music

Independence Community College (ICC) is seeking applications for the tenuretrack position of Associate Professor of Instrumental Music and Director of Instrumental Music. Independence Community College a small rural residential community college in southeast Kansas serves approximately 1000 full and parttime students each year. Position Summary
The Associate Professor of Instrumental Music and Director of Instrumental Music plays a key role in providing a wellrounded liberal arts education to students in Southeast Kansas. The position is responsible for performing a wide variety of duties including the following: leading instrumental ensembles specifically Athletic Band Concert Band and Jazz Band; teaching undergraduate music courses as part of both general education offerings and the established Associate of Arts in Music degree track; providing regular course assessment data and cocurricular ensembles; collaborating with Vocal Music and the Theatre Department; recruiting for scholarships within the Music Department and for Instrumental Music specifically to further grow the program; coordinating and conducting a minimum of two concerts per academic year; and other similar duties necessary to maintain and support instrumental music including budget management. Position requires flexible hours reflecting day evening and weekend rehearsal and performance opportunities.

Qualifications
Masters Degree in Music or a masters degree in a related field with 18 graduate credits in the concentration. The applicants degree must be from an accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Preferred qualifications include two or more years of community college teaching experience high school teaching experience experience working in rural setting and experience with assessment.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of an Associate Professor of Instrumental Music. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Position generally requires light work with occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds or more carrying supplies equipment.
2. This position requires the ability to sit or stand or walk for extended and various periods of time.
3. The ability to effectively learn new computer programs and applications as necessary; the ability to effectively troubleshoot changing computer software issues.
4. The ability to communicate clearly with small or large groups of people with an excellent comprehension of the English language is essential.
5. Work is generally performed in an indoor setting in an office or a classroom as directed using commonly used technology and resources to facilitate instruction.
6. Provide own transportation to and from campus and appropriate licensing to operate college vehicles on recruiting trips.

Position Information
Associate Professor of Instrumental Music and Director of Instrumental Musicis full time 9month tenuretrack faculty position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The instructor reports to the VP for Academic Affairs. Start date is early August 2025.

Independence Community College (ICC)is a twoyear educational institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It was established in 1925 as grades 13 and 14 of the Independencepublic school system. In 1967 Independence Community College legally separated from the school district. Construction of the new community college on a 68 acre campus formerly the Independence Country Club began in 1969. Classes at the new site began in September 1970. ICC campus is now home to the Academic Building Fine Arts Building Student Union Cessna Learning Center Field House Administration BuildingWilliam Inge Center for the Artsfitness center athletic practice fields disc golf course 96bed multistructure living complex and a 200 bedresidence hall.

By renovating a donated building in 2010 we expanded our college to include ICC West 2615 West Main Street). This campus is located on the west side of Independence and is home to our technical programs: Allied Health Cosmetology and GED/ renovations were completed in 2012 to accomodate our newest program Veterinary Technology. This stateoftheart facility includes animal wards a classroom lab surgery pharmacy prep roomsmall animal treatment food prep grooming and radiology.

ICC also maintains presence downtown through the ICC Foundation office and by partnering with the Independence Business Resource Center.

Currently our educational and support programming includes 35programs of studyfor Associates of Arts and/or Science degrees 11programs of study for Certificate completionStudent Support ServicesUpward Bound mens and womens athletic programs and a variety ofcampus organizations and activities.
