Psychologist 3 Full Time Project position

Shift: 7:30am4:00PM Monday Through Friday (Saturday and Sunday off)
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Psychologist 3at the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) in Gig Harbor Washington. This is a day shift position that will require work to be completedonsite at the facility.
WCCW Mental Health (MH) improves public safety by positively changing lives through providing medically necessary and individualized care so incarcerated individuals can heal and recover and reenter the community as better neighbors.
The Psychologist 3 (PSYCH3 works to directly improve public safety by positively changing lives through grant funded mental health treatment targeting recidivistic factors relevant to incarcerated women. The position supports the mission of DOC Health Services Division and mental health by providing senior level professional mental health care services under both the supervision and lead of licensed psychologists to adult incarcerated individuals (I/Is) housed at WCCW. Supervision is provided by the Psychologist 4 assigned to thier position to provide oversight and consultation for clinical issues. Additionally the Psychologist 4 assigned to their position is the lead designated to provide direction and review for operational and daily assignments.
Psychologist 3 (PSYCH3: Providing services to clients (pretreatment) already enrolled in SUD/PTSD services (active participants) and transitioning out of care (posttreatment) in the facility.

Duties

Clinical Interviews:

  • The PSYCH3 utilizes daily contacts and a formal interview process to obtain background information determine provisional diagnoses and evaluate treatment needs
  • The PSYCH3 completes collaborative and therapeutic assessments (CTA) of incarcerated individuals on their caseload utilizing a wide range of psychological assessment instruments that are selected based on the incarcerated individuals individual needs gender cultural background and presenting symptoms.

Coordination of Care:
  • The PSYCH 3 communicates relevant symptom safety and discharge information to the multidisciplinary treatment team. The PSYCH 3 takes into consideration HIPAA safety and limits of confidentiality when making a decision about what to share with multidisciplinary team members.
  • The PSYCH3 recommends housing placement and treatment needs for incarcerated individuals on their caseload and makes appropriate treatment referrals (i.e. medication evaluation individual treatment group treatment) as clinically indicated.

Treatment:
  • The PSYCH 3 provides treatment (individual group rounds milieu) to incarcerated individuals. All treatment (both individual and group) will be documented on gender specific individualized and culturally competent treatment plans.
  • The PSYCH3 provides individual and group treatment utilizing promising practices and evidencebased treatments for assigned caseload.
Documentation:
  • The PSYCH3 documents interview/rounds information in psychological reports and/or Mental Health Appraisals (MHAs) and/or Mental Health Updates (MHUs) for each client (typically done by writing). The type of report completed will be determined by the individual needs of the incarcerated individual and the treatment and discharge plan.
  • The PSYCH3 gathers information through Functional Analysis from unit staff to create and implement Individualized Behavior Management Plans (IBMP) as needed for incarcerated individuals on their caseload
  • An MHA or MHU will be completed on all incarcerated individuals per policy 630.500 and/or Treatment Evaluation Center (TEC) protocol.
  • The PSYCH3 interprets and integrates results of psychological evaluations in formal reports and provides client feedback on evaluation results utilizing the Collaborative Therapeutic Assessment (CTA) model.
  • The PSYCH 3 documents suicide evaluation using the Suicide Risk Assessment (SRA) form and includes in the written assessment documentation of the correctional risk factors assessed (included dynamic static and acute) housing and placement considerations and relevant risk management planning.
  • The PSYCH3 documents all contacts with patients in a timely manner via Mental Health Encounter Reports (MHERs) or Mental Status Exams (MSEs) utilizing SOAP format.
  • The PSYCH3 inputs daily OMNI encounters (electronic) on all incarcerated individuals seen that day.

Research analysis/utilization and program planning/evaluation:
  • The PSYCH 3 will research new treatments (both group and individual) and discusses them with the clinical team.
  • The PSYCH3 provides a structure for data collection related to treatment and program outcomes as supervised by the Psychologist 4s. This includes identifying which data measures (including PCL5 PHQ etc. will be used to evaluate client progress and reviewing data once returned from the PSYCH4 and implementing any needed changes.
  • The PSYCH3 ensures performance metrics meet compliance quarterly ensuring numbers fall between 90100.
  • Creates and designs treatment plan templates which match chart review audit anchors.
  • Creates and designs treatment plan templates for cooccurring services which match operational inspection anchors (OIAs).
  • The PSYCH 3 utilizes the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Response to Trauma materials to assess the COA environment. The PSYCH3 actively works with stakeholders to provide feedback on the application of the rubric to the environment.
  • The PSYCH 3 tracks their own individual competence in trauma informed care utilizing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Response to Trauma materials specifically utilizing the Core Competencies for Trauma Informed Staff selfassessment tool.

Be a contributing and supportive team member:
  • Attend MH and Health Services staff meetings (onsite and offsite) read/critique assigned materials
  • Attending and completing required annual inservice and other DOC training. On a rotational basis teaching Suicide Prevention for inservice and/or new employee orientation.
  • Participating in Involuntary Antipsychotic Medication Hearings on a rotational basis as an advisor the chair backup chair and presenter (per policy).

  • Attend all required training
  • Take one week of assigned MHOD call per assigned rotation. Follow MHDO policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Ph. D or Psy. D in Clinical Psychology
AND
Licensure within Washington State Mental Health Counselor License Washington State Psychologist License or Agency Affiliated Registration (LAAC) within 60 days of position appointment

Maintain and adhere to the continuing education and licensing/registration requirements for the applicable licenses above through the Department of Health (DOH)

**A licensed agency affiliated counselor may only provide counseling services as part of his or her employment for a recognized agency. Applicants for an agency affiliated counselor credential who apply within 7 days of employment may provide services within the agency for up to 60 days while the Department of Health processes your application.

Working Knowledge:
The PSYCH3 has knowledge of assessment instruments including objective instruments projective instruments intelligence/achievement instruments and neuropsychological instruments.
The PSYCH3 has knowledge of DSM5 diagnoses and their basic criteria.
The PSYCH3 has knowledge of various psychotherapeutic modalities including psychodynamic modalities
cognitive/behavioral modalities and humanistic/existential modalities

The PSYCH3 is aware of professional ethical guidelines for mental health professionals.
The PSYCH3 maintains professional boundaries and has expectations that supervisors peers and subordinates do the same.
