Software Development Manager Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility

The Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility team develops software that powers Proteus Amazon Robotics first fullyautonomous mobile warehouse robot. We are growing and seek a talented and motivated Software Development Manager for our Platform Data and Tools team. You will lead and support an exceptional collaborative group of engineers building the platform and architecture for our onboard mapping perception motion planning and control software. A key part of your teams charter will be building the infrastructure and tools to support advanced machine learning capabilities. The successful candidate will be a handson manager with a background building highperformance scalable and reliable software systems and experience leading and supporting software teams. Experience in areas such as robotics autonomous navigation machine learning and/or realtime systems is a plus.

About the team
We are a multidisciplinary team of collaborative Applied Scientists and Software Engineers with expertise in Computer Vision SLAM motion planning and controls. Our mission is to deliver autonomous navigation software that utilizes stateoftheart sensor technologies and algorithms to enable safe and efficient operation of autonomous mobile robots throughout the Amazon fulfillment and transportation network. We take this mission seriously and work hard to achieve it but we have a lot of fun along the way. After all whats more fun than building robots

3 years of engineering team management experience
7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
Experience designing developing and deploying robotic systems
Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas; robotics autonomous navigation machine learning real time systems
Experience leading R&D initiatives that require pathfinding through research and prototyping
A deep understanding of the software development process in a team setting and a track record for delivering software on time.
Experience working with sensors and hardware
Experience with simulation platforms and tools
Expertise in ROS and Nvidia Jetpack
