Job Title: Instructor Inpatient Lung Transplant Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant

Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our inpatient lung transplant team. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to care for lung transplant patients both during their initial hospitalization and throughout their lifetime when they require readmission. As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team the APP will work alongside transplant pulmonologists surgeons pharmacists social workers and dietitians to provide comprehensive patientcentered care. This role requires care of medically complex patients postsurgical patients and critically ill patients. This position focuses on supporting patients through their recovery and ongoing care making a meaningful impact on their health and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Patient Management: Provide direct inpatient care for lung transplant patients including pretransplant evaluation perioperative management and posttransplant care.
  • Rounding & Collaboration: Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds develop treatment plans and implement evidencebased interventions.
  • ICU Consults: Evaluate and manage transplant patients in the ICU in collaboration with the critical care teams.
  • Clinical DecisionMaking: Interpret diagnostic tests adjust immunosuppressive therapies and manage transplantrelated complications under the guidance of transplant pulmonologists.
  • Patient & Family Education: Counsel patients and their families on posttransplant expectations medication adherence and lifestyle modifications.
  • Documentation & Communication: Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (Epic) communicate effectively with consulting teams and provide thorough handoffs.
  • Process Improvement & Education: Participate in quality improvement initiatives protocol development and provide education to nursing staff and trainees.

Onsite this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Masters and/or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • National board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP AGACNP) or Physician Assistant (PAC)
  • Active and unrestricted license to practice in Colorado (or eligibility to obtain)
  • DEA license or eligibility to obtain
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Minimum of one year of experience in pulmonology transplant ICU or hospital medicine.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in solid organ transplant pulmonary medicine hospital medicine or critical care

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent clinical reasoning communication and teamwork skills

The starting salary range or hiring range for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$112528 to $137634

The above salary range or hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is nonexempt.
