Specific responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness of academic and/or housing areas (approximately 13 according to standards set by the Manager of Housekeeping. This includes vacuuming dusting washing and wiping surfaces wet and dry mopping emptying garbage and recycling baskets cleaning windows cleaning bathroom fixtures and picking up small trash items.
Perform deep cleaning during summer months such as shampooing carpeted areas and upholstered furniture and stripping scrubbing diamond buffing and refinishing hard floor areas. Cleaning behind appliances and furniture.
Setup breakdown and clean areas for special events such as graduation and summer conference programs. Provide cleanup when unexpected emergencies occur on campus such as water damage or human damage.
Communicate any unsafe conditions building needs missing equipment and furniture damaged college property expired fire extinguishers and community requests to supervisors and/or Managers of Housekeeping.
Shovel entrances of assigned buildings when needed during hours of work.
Maintain a stock of cleaning supplies and equipment for individual work area at all times.
Participate in an oncall program (approx. 2 weekends per year) and in the weekend work program (approx. 4 weekends per year).
Perform additional duties as assigned and attend collegerequired training. Regular attendance is required. Work in a manner that is aware of personal safety and the safety of others and observes safety health and sanitation codes regulations or practices required by the College or governmental authority.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
At least 1 year of experience in the cleaning field or other related field.
Dedication to working in a missiondriven environment with a profound respect for and commitment to preserving the rich traditions of Catholicism Norbertine values and the liberal arts.
Ability to work with others positively and effectively.
Ability to maintain a professional work ethic around students and their living areas.
Skilled in general cleaning practices and use of general cleaning equipment such as vacuums mops and dusters.
Ability to learn the operation of other equipment such as scrubbers extractors and wet vacs.
Ability to communicate politely with the campus community and visitors.
Knowledge of cleaning solutions and various uses.
Ability to pass a postoffer functional capacity test.
The College may consider any equivalent amount of credentials licensures training or experience that provides the necessary knowledge skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
Equipment Used:
Wet and Dry vacuum mop bucket/wringer wet and dry mops rags spray bottles dispensing units for chemicals scrubbers extractors swing machine brooms toilet brush squeegees scissors computers for time sheets and checking work emails and shovels.
Working Conditions:
Positions generally work in assigned areas most of the year and work individually most of the shift. At times the positions need to deal with extreme temperatures of over 100 degrees during the summer months in buildings. Oncall and weekend work 47 times per year is required.

Frequent standing and walking for most of the shift with lifting below the waist and carrying objects 10 lbs. or less frequently. Lift below the waist 1130 lbs. occasionally and carry 1120 lbs. occasionally. Occasional pushing and pulling of equipment of up to 25 lbs. Employees must move between floors and several buildings during the workday. Regular crouching and reaching to clean areas.
