Are you a software development engineer with a passion for applying stateoftheart and machine learning to solve real world problems that directly impacts millions of people Are you up to the task of delivering innovative and scalable technology that manages automated classification of millions of products involving hundreds of thousands of suppliers and tens of millions of customers around the world Do you want to get the opportunity to learn computer vision on the job and build a distributed system which can handle throughputs greater than 75000 TPS If yes then this opportunity is ideal for you where you will not only get the opportunity to work on building a brand new platform around AI/CV but also ensure that it can handle the Amazon catalog scale which is growing at 30 year on year.
We tackle some of the most complex challenges in the industry today to create intelligent algorithms to automatically identify and control hazardous or controlled substances products to make sure that we protect the safety of Amazon customers partners and employees while continuing to offer the Earths biggest selection of products. You will need to build Amazon scale applications running on our cloud that both leverage and create new technologies to process large volumes of data that derive patterns and conclusions from the data. This opportunity will entail building capabilities right from storage plane to control plane in a fashion that can handle Amazonscale latency (P99 100ms) and throughput(75000 TPS) challenges. Its an interesting opportunity to work on Amazon scale and at the same time get the opportunity to innovate in the Computer Vision and applied science space.
Software engineers at Amazon are more than just order takers; they see a problem and leverage innovative technology to address it. You will be working with very large datasets well beyond the scalability limits of conventional relational databases. 3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
Experience in machine learning data mining information retrieval statistics or natural language processing

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
