You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) isan independent State agency that regulates Marylands $46 billion insuranceindustry and protects consumers by monitoring and enforcing insurers andinsurance professionals compliance with State law. Staff members are subjectmatter experts who serve as a resource for lawmakers consumers and otherpublic and private entities.
The MIA is charged with a broad range ofresponsibilities including the licensure of insurance carriers and insuranceproducers (brokers/agents) operating in Maryland the conduct of financialexaminations of companies to monitor financial solvency and the review andapproval of rates and contract forms. The MIA investigates reports of consumerfraud and consumer complaints about life health automobile homeownersand/or property insurance. Insurance carriers are subject to marketconduct examinations and other actions to monitor compliance with Marylandlaw. The MIA also has a unit dedicated to consumer education andoutreach which participates in hundreds of events and reaches thousands ofindividual consumers annually.

The MIA is seeking to fill a Chief of Licensing and ManagementInitiatives position in the Insurance Fraud and Producer Enforcement Division. Thisposition ensures compliance with Marylands insurance licensing laws andregulations which includes direct supervision of investigators responsible forreviewing licensing applications renewals and compliance issues ensuringadherence to state regulations. Responsibilities include managing caseloadsproviding guidance on investigative procedures and collaborating with theMarket Regulation and Professional Licensing Division to uphold regulatorystandards. The Chief will also manage their own caseload while performingadditional duties as assigned by the Director or Associate Commissioner.
The Chief position will also have responsibility for supportingthe MIA in advancing management initiatives within the Insurance Fraud andProducer Enforcement Division. Key responsibilities include overseeing theimplementation of the SalesForce case management system to streamline caseloadmanagement responding to all Public Information Act (PIA) requests made to theDivision and reviewing legislation related to licensing enforcement and otherfraud matters.
The Chief of Licensing and Management Initiatives reports directlyto the Director of Fraud and Producer Enforcement.
Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited fouryear collegeor university.
Experience: Seven years of investigative work or law enforcement experience. Two years of this experiencemust have been in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Note: Additional investigativework or law enforcement experiencemay substitute on ayearforyear basis for up to four years of the required education.Two years of this experiencemust have been in a lead or supervisory capacity.
This recruitment is limited to current employees of the MarylandInsurance Administrations Insurance Fraud and Producer Enforcement Divisiononly.
Employees in this position will be assignedduties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned suchduties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid inthe State of Maryland.
