This is a Stanford Health Care job.A Brief OverviewThis position is to ensure high quality and safe medication use across SHC settings. To ensure State and Federal conformance regarding medication use. To develop continuously update and risk rate SHC medication use practices. Accountable for staff services provided and level of performance within assigned areas.

What you will do- Actively contributes to the planning for and achievement of annual departmental objectives by coordinating assigned objectives and assisting within assigned areas through constant evaluation and innovation.
- Assures appropriate handling documentation and medications by assigned staff. Develops and implements improved procedures to prevent and/or minimize medication errors.
- Compiles maintains and interprets records statistical and financial reports for assigned areas
- Coordinates medication management processes and services in assigned areas with other departments and external agencies to facilitate a smooth continuity of care.
- Develops ways to reduce and control pharmacy expenses; assures capture of all appropriate pharmacy patient charges.
- In partnership with departmental management recruits hires trains develops schedules and supervises assigned staff develops performance standards conducts performance appraisals.
- Prepares and revises policies and procedures in areas of responsibility; implements approved changes. Interprets health system and departmental policies and procedures for pharmacy personnel and assures compliance.
- Prepares monitors and operates within departmental budget for operations personnel and capital equipment and prepares variance reports as required.
- Represents the department at assigned health system and medical staff committees
- The Director manages pharmacy services in a costeffective manner including planning for new
- services daytoday operations continuously improving services to meet customer needs assuring
- adequate resources are available and integrating services with other professional services within and
- outside the hospital to assure continuity of care.
- As necessary fulfill the duties as the Pharmacist in Charge.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MAY VARY BASED ON DEFINED SPECIALTIES AS FOLLOWS:
- Ambulatory
- 1. Responsible for overseeing Ambulatory pharmacy practice sites (e.g. Surgery Centers Neuroscience Infusion Center) and pharmacy patient services (Ambulatory Care Oral Anticoagulation etc..
- 2. Participates in Ambulatory related governances and projects as needed.
- 3. Supports related research efforts
- Cancer
- 1. Responsible for overseeing Outpatient Cancer pharmacy sites (ITA CCSB RWC) and services.
- 2. Participates in Cancer related governances and projects as needed.
- 3. Supports related research efforts
- Inpatient
- 1. Responsible for overseeing Inpatient Operations at Stanford Main Campus.
- 2. Participates in Inpatient governances and projects as needed.
- 3. Supports related research efforts
- Investigational
- 1. Responsible for overseeing Inpatient Drug practices across the SHC enterprise.
- 2. Participates in Investigational governances and projects as needed.
- Quality
- 1. Responsible for overseeing Accreditation Regulatory Licensure aspects of Pharmacy
- 2. Oversees Clinical Effectiveness (e.g. Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee)
- 3. Coordinates Medication Safety and Sterile Compounding efforts.
- Specialty
- 1. Responsible for overseeing Specialty pharmacy sites and services.
- 2. Participates in Specialty governances and projects as needed.
Education Qualifications- Bachelor of Pharmacy or
- PharmD from an accredited college/university
Experience Qualifications- Seven 7 years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience Required
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to manage complex projects and resources (people costs time)
- Ability to mediate and resolve complex problems and issues
- Ability to strategize plan and implement change
- Knowledge of all phases of hospital pharmacy
- Expertise of local state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility
- Knowledge of principles and practices of organization administration fiscal and personnel management
- Knowledge of project management processes and systems
- Knowledge of reimbursement systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in development and ongoing Quality Improvement of medication use systems and the Practice of Pharmacy.
- Practice experience in integrated healthcare systems
Licenses and Certifications- RPH Registered Pharmacist; if not registered in the State of California must obtain CA registration within 180 days of hire.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $91.60 $121.38 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
