Job Description
School District No. 73 is currently accepting applications for the Indigenous Education Worker (IEW) Relief roster with the possibility of an appointment to a position in the 2024/2025 school year.
Indigenous Education Workers provide assistance and support to either individual or groups of Indigenous students. The successful applicants will be of Indigenous Ancestry and have a thorough knowledge of applicable Indigenous culture tradition and issues both historical and contemporary.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 supplemented by a minimum of one 1 year postsecondary education in a related field (e.g. Education Assistant and Community Support Certificate)
- Two 2 years proven previous work experience working with children preferably of Indigenous ancestry.
- Valid B.C. Drivers License.
- Indigenous language skills and previous experience supporting the Indigenous community would be an asset.
The successful incumbent(s) must be willing to travel to our outlying communities while on relief.
