Job Description

The University of Washington (UW) Department of Ophthalmology is currently recruiting 5 fulltime physicians to work in the areas of comprehensiveophthalmology neuroophthalmology and pediatric ophthalmology.

This position will be based at Harborview Medical Center (HMC) at theAssistant ProfessorAssociate Professor or Professor rank on the Clinical Practice Track. The initial appointment period will be three years at a minimum with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multiyear appointments that align with a 12month service period (July 1June 30. Faculty with 12month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12month period (JulyJune) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UWs Faculty Code Section 2434. Positions are available effective May 1 2025 though the specific start date is negotiable.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research/scholarship and service. Responsibilities include clinical care resident and fellow supervision and training including both medical and surgical training and teaching of medical be expected to provide medical and surgical care including evaluation and treatment of consult and emergency patients.

The successful candidate is expected to support the Department of Ophthalmologys commitment to working with diverse community actively welcome and engage faculty students and staff from diverse backgrounds and reflect the importance of diversity through leadership and innovation within education research and patient care. Compensation

Salary

The base salary for this position will be $17000 $27364 per month $204000 $328368 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through University of Washington Physicians (UWP) practice plan in additional to base salary provided by the university.

Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in the University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through University of Washington Physicians practice plan. Incentive is inclusive of variable incentive Monthly or SemiAnnual additional compensation (MAC/SAAC).

A demonstrated record of teaching and scholarly research in ophthalmology is required. Applicants must be American Board of Ophthalmologycertified (or foreign equivalent) or Board eligible and eligible for licensure in the State of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1B visa graduates of foreign (nonU.S. medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
