Do you want to create worldwide impact in robotics while solving challenges at the edge of robotics research Our collaborative team in Amazon Robotics builds highperformance realtime robotic systems that can perceive learn and act intelligently alongside humansat Amazon scale. Our mission is to create robots that perform contactrich tasks safely efficiently and dexterously amid the complexity and variety of Amazon warehouses. We are seeking an Applied Scientist to join our Motion Planning and Control team working on rapid contactrich manipulation. You will apply the latest trends in research to solve realworld problems alongside a worldclass team of experts in motion planning computer vision deep learning intelligent control and semisupervised and unsupervised learning. We target highimpact algorithmic unlocks in areas such as scene and activity understanding closedloop control robotic grasping and manipulation in highcontact environments. Your contributions will drive the development of advanced robotic systems capable of handling complex dynamic environments and transforming how robots interact with the world around them.
Key job responsibilities
Research design implement and evaluate complex motion planning controls and decisionmaking algorithms that improve the performance of systems deployed in realworld conditions.
Apply recent advances in topics such as planning optimization modelbased controllers or grasp affordance learning to our systems in the lab and in the field.
Work closely with software engineers to drive scalable realtime implementations.
Collaborate with experts across disciplines including perception hardware and software to create intelligent integrated systems and solutions.
Represent Amazon in academia community through publications and scientific presentations.
Work with stakeholders across hardware science and operations teams to iterate on systems design and implementation.

3 years of building machine learning models for business application experience
PhD or Masters degree and 6 years of applied research experience
Experience programming in Java C Python or related language
Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
Experience with modeling tools such as R scikitlearn Spark MLLib MxNet Tensorflow numpy scipy etc.
Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop Spark etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
