Licensed dedicated School Speech Language Pathologist needed at IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville.
The School Speech Language Pathologist will work with the other members of the Student Support team and the Exceptional Children Department to ensure students needs are identified and provided with appropriate services.
Salary based on IC Imagines Certified/ Licensed TeachersSalary Schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the identification of children with speechlanguage disabilities.
- Provide diagnosis and appraisal of specific speechlanguage disorders.
- Provide referrals for medical or other professional attention necessary for the habilitation of speechlanguage disorders.
- Provide speechlanguage services for the habilitation or prevention of communicative disorders.
- Counseling and guidance of parents children and teachers regarding speechlanguage disorders and learning strategies.
- Provide speechlanguage screening. Speechlanguage screening quickly and reliably provides information in the areas of articulation expressive and receptive language voice and fluency for determining which students have communication within normal limits and which ones should be referred for further evaluation.
- Provide speechlanguage evaluation. A speechlanguage evaluation includes the following aspects of speechlanguage: articulation fluency voice and language (form content and function).
- Provide hearing screenings for students in the eligibility process and upon request for school based general screenings.
- Have the ability to work with a diverse student body.
- Work as a team with the school staff parents and the community to create a caring climate and atmosphere. Communicate effectively with all members of the IC Imagine community.
- Support the value of education.
- Manage Individualized Education Plans and related documents.
- Assist in making recommendations for school curriculum and instructional practices.
- Keep abreast of new information innovative ideas and techniques.
- Work as a part of the schools student support (MTSS) team.
- Create and train staff in use of specific student communication systems (low to high tech). Provide followup support to teachers for proper implementation across environments.
- Collaborate with the other members of the Exceptional Children department.
- Collaborate with other educators at all grade levels support staff and the IC Imagine community to enhance the educational opportunities for all students.
- Follow the processes laid out in the faculty handbook respond to emails in a timely manner and correspond regularly with families.
- Will perform additional duties including but not limited to supervision during noninstructional time attending after school events and meetings participating in enrollment activities during and leading into the Open Enrollment period.
- Adhere to all legal and ethical requirements of the teaching profession and set an example for others to do the same.
Skills and Abilities:
- Skilled in problem solving and decision making as well as observation listening and coaching
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Maintain effective working relationships
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom
- Possess strong time management skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and multitask in a busy environment
- Proficiency with GSuite
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Masters Degree
- Valid NC Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists (NCBOESLPA) license
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA)
- NC DPI Professional Educators license
- 1 year teaching experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing kneeling squatting reaching and bending
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
