Job Description

Job Goal:Looking for an opportunity to support middle school youth in a handson differentiated projectbased robotics program Our Middle Grades Robotics Summer Program is an innovative collaboration with the Somerville High School Robotics Team supported by the Somerville Public Schools. We are looking for teachers to inspire students to learn about engineering and robotics by teaching one class of 1520 middle grades students. Duties include taking attendance communicating with families redirecting behaviors in a positive and supportive way and assisting with additional tasks as needed.

This position worksin close collaboration with the Summer Robotics Program Coordinator Somerville High School Fab Lab Manager SPELL Administration and Summer Middle Grades Robotics High School Youth Mentors.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach a group of 1520 students in grades 59 about LEGO robotics engineering
  • Work collaboratively with SHS Robotics Youth Mentors
  • Willingness to learn and jump in enthusiastically
  • Be able to quickly build strong relationships with students parents and staff
  • Excited to serve as a role model for youth
  • Must be available Monday July 7 through Friday July 11 and Monday July 21 through Friday July 25 2024. Availability Monday July 14 through Friday July 18 is preferable but not required.

Terms of Employment:

Seasonal/Yearly Employment

Salary: $35 per hour

Session 1: Monday July 7 through Friday July 11 from 8:15am 12:45pm

Session 2: Monday July 14 through Friday 18 (Summer SPELL pushin 8:15am 12:45pm)

Session 3: Monday July 21 through Friday July 25 from 8:15am 12:45pm
