Were currently searching for a Mental Health Initiatives Coordinator to join our Hokie Wellness team in Blacksburg VA to help us in our mission. So if youre passionate about student wellbeing please keep reading.

HERES WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1 Youll be joining the Hokie Wellness team; a department centered on providing holistic wellbeing resources to the Virginia Tech community by focusing on a variety of health and wellbeing topics.
2)Youll be reporting to the Assistant Director of Mental Health Initiatives in a Regular twelvemonth 100 administrative professional appointment.
3)Youll be responsible for supporting student success wellbeing and personal development by assessing need creating and implementing programming and evaluation of mental health initiatives strategies policies programs interventions and services. The Mental Health Initiatives Coordinator will report directly to the Assistant Director of Mental Health Initiatives. This position will provide mental health education to students through trainings workshops and outreach. This position will provide/assist the Assistant Director of Mental Health Initiatives with student staff supervision including graduate student(s) and the peer educator team. This position will also support large Hokie Wellness events such as WellFest Carve Out Time Destination Wellness etc. The Mental Health Initiatives Coordinator will work with various campus partners to collaborate on programming and serve as a content expert in the areas mentioned above.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in health education health promotion public health human development psychology sociology or related field.
Experience creating and leading training sessions/professional development opportunities.
Experience assessing need designing implementing and evaluating programs that focus on a variety mental health topics.
Experience leading trainings and/or presentations related to mental health topics.
Strong interpersonal skills with public speaking and small group facilitation experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in health education health promotion public health human development psychology sociology or related field.
Minimum of 2 years experience (can apply graduate assistantships to years of experience).
Prior experience working in health promotion/education and/or mental health in a higher education setting including the planning of outreach programs.
Mental Health First Aid training or willingness to obtain within the first year of employment.
Community Resiliency Model training.
Prior experience collecting and working with both quantitative and qualitative data/research methods.
Prior experience working with peer education and/or peer support.
