Job Description

Job Title: Elementary Inclusion Teacher
Reports To: Building Principal

*This position is for theschool year.*

Position Overview:
The Elementary Inclusion Teacher plays a vital role in fostering the academic emotional and psychological growth of students by delivering inclusive instruction and providing targeted support to students with diverse learning needs. This teacher collaborates with general education teachers and staff to implement personalized learning strategies ensure the effective use of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and create an inclusive classroom environment that empowers all students to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instructional Leadership:

    • Deliver differentiated instruction tailored to the individual needs of students ensuring all students have access to gradelevel content.
    • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the IEP team ensuring students with disabilities receive appropriate accommodations and modifications.
    • Provide clear focused and engaging lessons that encourage student participation and learning.
    • Monitor student behavior academic progress and socialemotional development providing consistent support and positive reinforcement.
    • Maintain an inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect collaboration and a growth mindset.
  2. Collaboration & Communication:

    • Work closely with general education teachers to coplan and coteach lessons ensuring all students benefit from integrated learning opportunities.
    • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents guardians and staff to provide updates on student progress behavior and IEP goals.
    • Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  3. Student Support & Advocacy:

    • Provide oneonone and small group support to students offering personalized instruction and guidance to promote academic success.
    • Assist students in developing positive social skills selfadvocacy and independence.
    • Address behavioral and emotional concerns by implementing proactive strategies and working with the guidance counselor or other support staff as needed.
    • Utilize assessments and observations to monitor student progress adjusting instructional approaches as necessary to ensure success.
  4. Professional Growth & Compliance:

    • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and growth keeping up to date with best practices in special education and inclusive teaching strategies.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal state and district regulations including completing required documentation (e.g. IEPs progress reports and case management).
    • Complete necessary administrative duties including attendance records and reporting in accordance with NLCS policies and state guidelines.
  5. Classroom Management & Organization:

    • Foster a positive structured and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe and respected.
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance academic progress and behavioral observations.
    • Contribute to the overall school community by participating in cocurricular activities and supporting schoolwide initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:

    • Valid Indiana teaching certification in Special Education or Elementary Education.
  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • Strong knowledge of instructional design differentiation and inclusive teaching strategies.
    • Expertise in implementing IEPs accommodations and modifications.
    • Knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards and best practices in special education.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to foster a positive inclusive classroom environment.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in teaching students with diverse learning needs (preferred).
    • Evidence of teacher leadership goal setting and collaboration with colleagues and families.
