Purpose:
The Project Accountant provides essential accounting and financial support to project teams with a focus on owner billing subcontractor payment processing compliance reporting and accurate project documentation. This role ensures the financial integrity of projects through detailed analysis timely reporting and strong coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation and submission of monthly owner invoices/pay applications; follow up on outstanding payments and post payments upon receipt
Track and process subcontractor pay applications change orders and lien waivers in alignment with contract terms
Monitor project budgets costs and forecasts in coordination with project managers
Maintain financial records and ensure accurate coding and posting in accounting software (Vista)
Conduct project cost reviews and assist with financial reporting and variance analysis
Gather and review subcontractor certified payroll; check for compliance and submit to owner as required
Oversee project compliance reporting including MBE/WBE EEO MoDOT 1391 and MSD compliance requirements
Submit annual EEO1 and VETS 4212 reports; provide administrative support to the EEO Officer
Coordinate and maintain project closeout documentation; schedule internal closeout/postmortem meetings
Ensure accurate filing and maintenance of all project financial and compliance documentation
Provide backup support to the Preconstruction Coordinator when needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Experience:
Three years of accounting or financerelated administrative experience required; construction or projectbased accounting experience strongly preferred
Experience with Vista by Viewpoint or similar construction ERP software is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Dependable organized and able to prioritize tasks in a deadlinedriven environment
Selfstarter with a willingness to ask questions and learn
Conducts self with professionalism and integrity
