Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors degree or higher from a recognized accredited college or university;
  2. Masters degree plus Principals certification from a recognized accredited college or university;
  3. Valid certification as a special education teacher;
  4. Demonstrated successful experience in working with special needs students preferred;
  5. Three 3 years of successful experience as a special education teacher preferred.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 210 days

SALARY:

$71763 (IA 4

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work cooperatively with the curriculum department members in developing and supervising the secondary instructional programs.
  2. Work cooperatively with the curriculum department members and special education coaches to create implement and support accommodations modifications and district assessments.
  3. Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.
  4. Monitor student performance for state and federal accountability.
  5. Work cooperatively with the curriculum department to provide staff development for teachers in areas related to improving student learning and performance in reading and writing.
  6. Provide staff development for teachers in the areas of IEP development coteach models classroom management data collection accommodations and modifications.
  7. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
  8. Assist in the selection location and/or purchase of appropriate instructional/diagnostic materials for use with students with disabilities.
  9. Work closely with the other special education coordinators and coaches to monitor curriculum implementation.
  10. Serve as a chairperson for multicampus IEP meetings.
  11. Keep abreast of current trends laws and regulations governing special education.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Support Services and/or the Director of Special Education.
  13. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
