QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree or higher from a recognized accredited college or university;
- Masters degree plus Principals certification from a recognized accredited college or university;
- Valid certification as a special education teacher;
- Demonstrated successful experience in working with special needs students preferred;
- Three 3 years of successful experience as a special education teacher preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work cooperatively with the curriculum department members in developing and supervising the secondary instructional programs.
- Work cooperatively with the curriculum department members and special education coaches to create implement and support accommodations modifications and district assessments.
- Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.
- Monitor student performance for state and federal accountability.
- Work cooperatively with the curriculum department to provide staff development for teachers in areas related to improving student learning and performance in reading and writing.
- Provide staff development for teachers in the areas of IEP development coteach models classroom management data collection accommodations and modifications.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
- Assist in the selection location and/or purchase of appropriate instructional/diagnostic materials for use with students with disabilities.
- Work closely with the other special education coordinators and coaches to monitor curriculum implementation.
- Serve as a chairperson for multicampus IEP meetings.
- Keep abreast of current trends laws and regulations governing special education.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Support Services and/or the Director of Special Education.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
