Social Studies Teacher
Job Description:
The DePaul College Prep Social Studies Department seeks a collaborative energetic and positive educator to teach a variety of history and social studies subjects. The ideal candidate is a qualified teacher with the following characteristics:
- Experience with curriculum design and mapping utilizing the Understanding By Design Framework;
- Experience teaching AP courses is preferred;
- Experience teaching prelaw or Constitutional Law is preferred;
- Experience with a wide range of instructional strategies that are tailored to meet the needs and strengths of each student;
- Ability to create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive relationships with students;
- Willingness and desire to work with a team of teachers to develop and present engaging studentcentered lessons and varied assessments;
- Ability to incorporate various modes of technology into lesson plans and classroom activities;
- Proactive in maintaining open communication regarding students with parents counselors deans learning specialists and other faculty and staff;
- Dedicated to being a lifelong learner in the art and science of teaching young adults;
- Values and seeks to understand the cultural and social identities of each student in their class;
- Ability to integrate culturally responsive practices into daily teaching.
Qualifications:
BA/BS in History or another social studies area of study
Illinois PEL
MA or MEd preferred
