GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Are you ready to take on a leadership role make a tangible impact and enjoy life in one of Wyomings most scenic and welcoming communities The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Highway Maintenance Supervisor I to join our team in Laramie Wyoming. In this key position you will oversee vital maintenance operations that ensure the safety and efficiency of Wyomings transportation system. As a leader youll guide a dedicated team to maintain and improve the states highways playing a critical role in keeping Wyomings roads safe and reliable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.


  • Will lead a crew of 9 employees to ensure adequate services are provided along with the safest conditions for the traveling public.
  • Oversees and performs all maintenance tasks.
  • Observes verifies and documents the work activities of the team.
  • Plan assign and supervise the work of the team daily.
  • Communicates project information and proposed courses of action and/or subsequent consequences.
  • Completes performance evaluations for their team members.
  • Ability to make and record daily weather observations.
  • Complete budgeting resource management and scheduling for the department.
  • Operate single and tandem axle trucks equipped with an auger aerial lift equipment front plow wing plow sander and chemical systems to remove snow and ice from roadway surfaces.
  • Responsible for the rehabilitation of roadway surfaces and traffic control devices.
  • Attends and completes all required training to obtain or maintain required certifications perform inspections and learn new skills.
  • Utilizes special computerized equipment.
  • Operate frontend loaders plow trucks rotary plows and other heavy equipment to assist with snow removal.
  • Provides leadership coordinates all maintenance activities and gives direction to subordinates performing snow removal operations.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently operate computer systems and programs.
  • Responsible for preparing longrange and yearly work plans for assigned road sections.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:


Preference may be given to applicants with WYDOT Maintenance experience and/or Management experience.

**Must have the ability to obtain water certifications if necessary.
**Must have the ability to obtain a Certification to operate specified equipment as directed by WYDOT.
**Must have the ability to obtain a Certificate of course completion of Defensive Driving.
**Must have the ability to obtain a First Aid/CPR certification.
**Must have the ability to obtain a Flagger certification.


KNOWLEDGE:


OR

Education:
Bachelors Degree (typically in Management)
Experience:
02 years of progressive work experience (typically in Highway Maintenance/Highway Construction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Highway Maintenance Specialist

Certificates Licenses Registrations:
Class A Commercial Drivers License
