POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Anticipated Opening for theSchool Year




Title: School Psychologist

Department: Student Support Services

Responsible To: Director of Student Services

Qualifications: Certificate license or other legal credential required.
Degree(s) required in the area of major study.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board mayfind appropriate and acceptable.

Terms of Employment: 184 Day Contract 21 extended days salary and benefits.



Job Goal:

To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by identifying and providing recommendations of intervention for academic/behavioral/emotional concerns.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of students.
  • Assesses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices based on team decisions.
  • Administers tests and/or recommends placement for exceptional and new students.
  • Helps identify all types of exceptional students within the school environment.
  • Maintains case records on all referred students.
  • May conduct individual group or facilitative therapy for children whose diagnosed problems would benefit from behavior modifications.
  • Confers with teachers and parents when necessary to recommend possible academic/behavioral/emotional interventions.
  • Consults on needs of students who are receiving special education services.
  • Attends case conferences on placement of individual students.
  • Serves as a consultant on mental health topics for staff interpreting the school psychological evaluation for teachers and parents.
  • Prepares and submits psychological education assessments and evaluation team reports.
  • Cooperates with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies.
  • Attends staff professional and interagency meetings.
  • Assists with inservice training of school personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent.

Required knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Maintain appropriate licenses/endorsements and training hours as required.
  • Comply with applicable District state local and federal laws rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to all standards established by the Ohio Department of Education for Licensed Educators.
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintain knowledge of academic areas teaching methodology and strategies to engage students.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit professional behavior emotional stability and sound judgment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
  • Attends meetings professional development and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Interacts in a positive manner with staff students and parents.
  • Refer suspected cases of child abuse immediately to the appropriate child protective services/law enforcement agency as mandated by state law and Board of Education policy.
  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance attitude and conversation.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect district equipment materials and facilities.
  • Plans purposeful assignments for educational assistants (paraprofessionals) volunteers and student teachers.
