Vice Principal Tsumaas Elementary School
The School District
The Pacific Rim School District covers much of Central Vancouver Islands rugged picturesque West Coast and serves a regional population of approximately 31000 residing in the communities of Port Alberni Tofino Ucluelet Bamfield and other remote communities. The schools are situated on the hahoulthees of the caaat hupaasath tlaoqui aht Yuuuiat and Huuayaht First Nations. The school district respectfully acknowledges that it works alongside all Nuuchahnulth Nations other First Nations and Metis and Inuit of British Columbia to serve all children and youth of the AlberniClayoquot region.
The district is home to 4000 students 35 of whom are of Indigenous ancestry in two neighbourhood secondary schools eight elementary schools and one K9 school. The district has a successful alternate learning centre a strong French Immersion program a thriving international student program and a busy continuing education program.
The School
Tsumaas Elementary School is a K7 school situated in the north end of Port Alberni. Tsumaas enrolls approximately 335 school age students and has onsite Strong Start childcare and before and afterschool care programs.
The School Vice Principal
Preferred candidates will have successful formal school leadership experience in elementary and/or middle school settings as well as strong positive interpersonal skills and recognized involvement in building effective school and community relations. Candidates will show a commitment to improved achievement for all learners including the ability to engage staff in the creation of a professional learning community that considers research best practice and student data to guide instruction and to develop school plans.
