JOB Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION Northampton
TERM Permanent
SALARY 35000 to 45000 per annum (plus benefits)
Premier Engineering is collaborating with an industryleading company based in Northampton. They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team and work on a range of innovative projects.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design with a strong focus on sheet metal design.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software particularly SolidWorks.
- Expertise in designing sheet metal components including knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng MEng HND HNC etc..
- Strong understanding of materials tolerances and engineering principles.
- Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team.
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Designing and developing mechanical systems and sheet metal components for various engineering projects.
- Using SolidWorks to create 3D models assemblies and detailed drawings.
- Generating accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
- Collaborating with production teams to ensure designs meet manufacturing and quality standards.
- Conducting design reviews and implementing improvements based on feedback and testing results.
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering on time and within budget.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance designs for performance and cost efficiency.
