Position Summary:
The success of AFJROTC would not be possible without the expertise and dedication of its Aerospace Science Instructors.
Officer instructors are retired officers who have at least a bachelors degree and a minimum of 20 years on active duty. Over 90 percent of them have masters degrees with backgrounds in teaching and many extensive experience working with youth groups.
Enlisted instructors are retired noncommissioned officers who have at least a bachelors degree and a minimum of 20 years on active duty. All enlisted instructors have extensive experience in leadership supply administration drill and ceremony teaching and many have extensive experience working with youth groups.
All AFJROTC instructors are deeply involved in their communities. They teach AFJROTC aerospace science and leadership education curricula. They also serve as liaisons between the Air Force and civilian agencies in the aerospace field and perform career and performance counseling for AFJROTC cadets.
Instructors help plan and support activities like drill competitions marksmanship events military balls academic competitions formal ceremonies and community service activities. They also provide indepth instruction to their cadets on the principles of leadership and management.
Instructors devote themselves to cadets in the classroom and during extensive extracurricular activities. Their hard work and devotion have resulted in an AFJROTC program thats highly acclaimed at the local and national level.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Be punctual without the need for frequent work absences due to existing medical conditions
- Sit and stand for extended periods of time performing both classroom teaching and conducting after school activities
- Walk extended distances such as leading field trips and fitness sessions demonstrating drill sequences and marching in parades
- Perform normal physical movements such as bending reaching moderate lifting and pushing pulling without difficulty
- Follow detailed instructions perform tasks that require attention to detail and follow all prescribed institution policies
- Calmly and positively handle dynamic and hectic situations loud sounds and stress
- Maintain a professional military appearance in uniform by maintaining weight and body fat within established standards

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications noted below are required to enable the employee to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.
- Be fully retired from Active Duty within 9 months or be fully retired now from the ANG/AFRES. Note: For all applicants you must be retired less than 5 years
- Hold a retired rank of E6 to E9 or O4 to O6
- Hold a minimum of a Bachelors degree (major/minor is not relevant)
- Have a commercial (ie. .com not .mil) email address
