GENERAL PURPOSE
Stafford High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable HVAC Instructor to teach Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) courses as part of the schools Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. The instructor will prepare students for careers in the HVAC industry by providing handson training theoretical knowledge and industry certifications. The successful candidate must meet the requirements for a Technical Professional License issued by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement a curriculum that aligns with Virginias CTE competencies and industry standards.
- Develop and deliver engaging instruction in HVAC fundamentals safety protocols installation maintenance troubleshooting and repair.
- Provide handson training using tools equipment and industryapproved techniques in a classroom and lab setting.
- Prepare students for industryrecognized certifications such as EPA 608 OSHA 10 and other relevant credentials.
- Supervise and assess students progress through practical exercises written evaluations and projectbased learning.
- Guide students in developing employability skills such as teamwork professionalism and problemsolving.
- Support students in workbased learning opportunities internships and apprenticeships.
- Maintain accurate student records including grades attendance and certification completion.
Collaboration with School Division and Community
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local HVAC businesses industry professionals and community organizations to support student learning and job placement opportunities.
- Promote safety and ensure compliance with all OSHA and VDOE regulations in the lab and classroom environments.
- Collaborate with other CTE instructors school staff and administration to enhance student learning experiences.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Hold at least a high school diploma G.E.D. or equivalent Associates degree or higher preferred
- Hold or be eligible for a Technical Professional License issued by the Virginia Department of Education with an endorsement in HVAC Instruction
- Hold Industry Certifications such as EPA 608 OSHA 10 NATE (North American Technician Excellence) or equivalent
- At least four 4 years of occupational experience in the HVAC industry

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work environment is primarily inside with moderate noise and temperatures that are controlled and some exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements where personal protective equipment is provided.
- The work is moderate work requiring exertion of up to 30 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
