Job Description

THE POSITION

Engineering District 120 is actively seeking a committed professional to fill the position of Transportation Automotive Equipment Specialist. In this role you will offer specialized technical advice and support for the upkeep and repair of fleet vehicles and highway maintenance equipment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position you will serve as the district equipment specialist offering expert technical support for the upkeep and repair of fleet vehicles and highway maintenance equipment within the district and its county maintenance garages. You will also assist the district equipment manager by managing the certification and tracking of Transportation Equipment Operators while overseeing the operations servicing and repairs of the vehicle and equipment fleet to ensure adherence to all applicable policies and standards.


Your responsibilities include delivering classroom training and field instruction to equipment operators and seasonal workers. You will guide trainees through standard operating procedures using manuals charts and graphs to enhance the training programs effectiveness. Additionally you will train operators on necessary preventative maintenance and repair techniques as well as on identifying mechanical and operational issues. Coordination of all training efforts across the county will be done in collaboration with the equipment manager assistant county managers and foremen. You will document all training activities and work with the training coordinator to finalize certifications ensuring that equipment operator certifications are conducted professionally and promptly after training completion.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Fulltime employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class A or B Pennsylvania Commercial Drivers License with the Air Brake (L) restriction removed.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class 7 Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification.
  • This position requires one year or experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
