Job Description
Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and culturally engaged English/Spanish Culture Teacher to join our department or school. This role involves teaching both language and cultural studies promoting bilingual proficiency and developing students cultural awareness and understanding. The ideal candidate is passionate about language culture and helping students broaden their global perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Language Instruction: Teach English and Spanish language classes focusing on developing students reading writing speaking and listening skills in both languages.
- Cultural Studies: Introduce students to the diverse cultures and customs associated with Englishspeaking and Spanishspeaking countries exploring areas such as history literature art music and traditions.
- Curriculum Development: Design lesson plans and assessments that are interactive engaging and aligned with state standards while also being sensitive to the cultural context.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive inclusive and safe learning environment that encourages respect and curiosity among students of all backgrounds.
- Student Support: Provide additional support to students as needed to help them succeed academically culturally and socially.
- Extracurricular Activities: Facilitate or support activities such as cultural festivals language clubs exchange programs and immersion experiences that enrich students understanding and appreciation of English and Spanish cultures.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow teachers staff and parents to create a cohesive educational experience for students.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Education Spanish English Cultural Studies or a related field. A teaching credential or certification in state/country specific is preferred.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Spanish with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
- Teaching Experience: Previous experience teaching English and/or Spanish language and cultural studies at the elementary middle or high school level is preferred.
- Cultural Competency: Demonstrated knowledge and passion for Englishspeaking and Spanishspeaking cultures with an understanding of cultural sensitivity and global perspectives.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills with the ability to inspire and engage students.
