Job Description

Accounts Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship St Margarets C of E Junior School (Medway Anglican Schools Trust)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard working individual to join St Margarets C of E Junior School team. As an Accounts Assistant Apprentice we are looking for someone to study AAT level 3. The purpose of the role is to support the Finance Officer

Key Details

Salary:6.40p/h increasing to National Minimum Wage after 12 months

Working hours:Monday Friday 9AM 4PM 30 hours per week)

Location: St Margarets C of E Junior School Orchard Street Rainham Kent ME8 9AE

Apprenticeship Details 20 months expected duration to complete working towards your Level 3 Accounts Assistant Qualification. (All learning is delivered online/ remote).

Training Provider:LMP Education (rated 1st best UK training provider)

During your time as a Accounts Assistant Apprentice your role will be varied and will include inputting purchase invoices onto the Trust accounting software and maintaining the accounting records. Your day to day duties will include:

To maintain the accounting records using PS Financials

To ensure that purchase orders are raised prior to ordering goods/services wherever possible to aid effective budget monitoring and management;

To ensure that payments are made to suppliers within 30 days after the date of the invoice;

To ensure monthly completion of bank petty cash and other reconciliations is adhered to;

To monitor the budget on a monthly basis;

To ensure that proper checks and controls are in place to cover daytoday activities in accordance with the Financial Regulations Manual;

To ensure VAT is correctly accounted for on PS Financials;

Liaise and cooperate with the CFO and the internal and external auditors in respect of any audit queries and ensure data is supplied to the CFO and/or the auditors within agreed timescales.

Liaise and cooperate with the CFO in respect of any queries and ensure data is supplied for the preparation of the annual Financial Statements within agreed timescales.

Liaise and cooperate with the CFO in respect of any queries and ensure data is supplied for the preparation of the forms and returns required by the DfE within agreed timescales.

Liaise and cooperate with the schools contractors to maintain the contracts/ 2 SLAs to ensure the schools are receiving best value.

Essential skills:

Competent in Maths and English

Punctuality

Required to complete a DBS check

Confident in liaising with staff members and external companies

Personal qualities:

Attention to detail is key.

Organised calm and efficient in a busy environment.

Keen interest in pursuing a career in accountancy and finance.

5 GCSEs Maths and English

3 A Levels desired but not required

Finance background is desired but not required

Excel IT skills

About the Employer

Medway Anglican Schools Trust (MAST) was formed on 1 September 2015 with 3 schools. In January 2019 the Trust welcomed a fourth school to join. The aim of the trust is to provide an outstanding education for our children through cooperation and collaboration while retaining the unique ethos of each school. We have a centralised Finance team based at St Margarets Church of England Junior School.
