Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Specialist Support Worker on a 3month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 20.31 26.78 per Hour

Summary:

Southwark Council is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Worker to join its All Age Disability / Learning Disability service. The role is vital in delivering behaviour interventions to children young people and adults with learning disabilities autism or behaviours that challenge. You will support families and carers to apply PBS strategies that increase independence and improve quality of life.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake assessments and create personalised effective support plans.
  • Deliver direct outreach and behavioural interventions within family homes or support settings.
  • Promote access to social leisure and educational opportunities for service users.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and attend relevant meetings.
  • Provide training advice and consultation to families support staff and professionals.
  • Write reports and case records using departmental systems and maintain high standards of documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Qualification in PBS (e.g. BTEC Level 4 in Positive Behaviour Support) or equivalent professional/lived experience.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) and/or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
  • Understanding of disabilities and their impact on individuals and families.
  • Awareness of equality diversity and the needs of communities from diverse backgrounds.

Experience Required:

  • Experience creating and delivering support plans and behavioural strategies.
  • Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism who display behaviours that challenge.
  • Experience using personcentred approaches to support independence and achieve outcomes.
  • Experience collaborating with a range of professionals and services.

Please note:

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
