Job Description
In this position...
In this role you will create and/or update schematic symbols and footprints using Siemens Xpedition. You will input the metadata associated with the bookends of the component description and orderable part number information. You will work with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers using ticket systems and inperson interactions to detail the geometry and schematic symbol configuration to meet the needs of the technical community. You will learn the IPC terminology and understand the IPC standards related to component artwork creation. You will work with suppliers when required to understand part dimensional variation when designing interchangeability into a multisource component footprint. You will learn component footprint design guidelines.
Responsibilities
What youll do...
- Work with multiple Engineering disciplines to create symbols and footprints using industry standards
- Proficient in communicating with and driving suppliers to meet business critical milestones
- Good understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly methods
- Familiar with component footprint design guidelines
- Familiar with IPC and terminology as it relates to component manufacturing
- Reviews and marks up component FAIs and measurement studies
- Understands schedule impact to extended work hours in peak release design time
- Able to support several design teams in parallel in a dynamic team environment
- Able to interpret technical specifications for all types of components
- Able to place parts in a schematic through layout and test part build function
- Is comfortable being liable and accountable for ontime and onquality CAD deliverables
- Builds ECAD Library components following the established Ford ECAD standards
- Able to document/establish improvements to the ECAD process or procedures
- Handle Root cause and resolve issues related to PCB Fabrication and/or Assembly
- Able to Design Experiments & analyze raw data using Statistical analytic methods
- Able to work closely with component suppliers to request and analyze measurement and/or reliability data of components (e.g. BGAs LGAs QFNs SOICsetc)
Understands and Demonstrates the sense of urgency required to meet businesscritical schedule milestones - Willing to travel occasionally to support PCB Assembly and Issue resolution at the factory
Qualifications
Youll have...
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Technology Engineering Design Engineering or equivalent
- Candidate will have demonstrated CAD experience/training
- The candidate should have strong communication skills to work effectively with business users and engineering professionals (e.g. globally distributed teams ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience work with all levels of management and diverse work groups etc..
- Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Even better you may have...
- 3 years of Design experiments & statistical analytic methods
- 3 years of experience using PLM tool
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python VBA SQL) for library automation
- 3 years of database management for component libraries.
- Knowledge of IPC standards (e.g. IPC7351 for PCB footprints IPC2221 for design)
- Experience with PCB design software (e.g.. Altium Designer or CAD Cadence Allegro Graphics/Xpedition PADS)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Suite including Excel PowerPoint Word Outlook Minitab CAD and other equivalent tools
