Job Description

Job Title:President

Job Summary:
Sealaska is seeking a dynamic and visionary President to strengthen and amplify the impact of our mission. Through Sealaskas business success we fulfill our mission by managing our land and providing shareholder benefits that include dividends workforce development programs scholarships internships advocacy burial assistance and many other benefits through our nonprofit organizations. Our programs can change lives and empower individuals families and communities to thrive.
We are building a global geosciences and engineering business platform that reflects our values of innovation leadership and connection to land people and our oceans. By partnering with our business leadership and local organizations the President will help bring our global capabilities to our communities and:
Foster healthy communities by helping to create economic opportunity build a highfunctioning workforce improve access to services and strengthen families.
Leverage Sealaskas deep social and cultural investments to elevate shareholder wellbeing and foster an environment where cultural and economic growth go handinhand.
Partner and collaborate with our tribal local and business leaders to create impactful education health and training programs.
Ensure shareholders are informed engaged and empowered with access to the full range of benefits and opportunities Sealaska provides.
Through personal experience the ideal candidate sees opportunity not obstacles is uniquely positioned to deeply connect and engage with shareholders and communities to spark meaningful change that improves lives and creates lasting change.

Seeking applicants that reside in or are willing to relocate to the Pacific Northwest or Alaska as the position requires routine travel to Juneau and other southeast AK communities. Relocation available for the right candidate.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Partners and builds alignment with local entities and agencies to ensure that we effectively deploy all resources across the region in an impactful way that genuinely uplifts our people and communities.
Establishes meaningful relationships that inspire trust connect Sealaska to shareholder communities and contribute to a deep understanding of shareholder needs and aspirations.
Advocates for those needs by developing and implementing strategies plans and objectives that impact the lives of shareholders and local communities through educational opportunities career development training leadership development and mentorship as well as directed financial assistance that makes a profound difference.
Lead Initiatives that address Systemic challenges such as addiction by focusing on empowering families and creating environments where shareholders can thrive and children can grow up healthy strong and prepared for the future.
Connects students with resources that help them explore different career pathways and obtain the education and training they need to achieve their goals.
Helps shareholders identify and build on their strengths ensuring that their chosen career paths are not only successful but deeply meaningful while providing support reskilling and career shifts as needed.
Identifies and partners with others that share similar objectives to bring disparate efforts together broadening the reach and effectiveness of combined/aligned efforts in the region.
Determines desired outcomes inspires others to achieve those goals and measures the results of programs against those objectives.
Oversees shareholder cultural and land related programs staff and expenditures.
Engages with Sealaska Heritage Institute Spruce Root AFN and other regional partners.
Act as the primary contact between Sealaskas board and other ANCSA organizations and keeps the board informed of activities/direction/strategies.
Engages shareholders community partners and other stakeholders in support of Sealaskas vision mission and goals.
Leads and serves as the face of Sealaska in the region through public policy advocacy and public relations related to cultural shareholder and landrelated topics.
Financial leadership partners with colleagues to understand business operations track activities and streamline processes.
Other duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:
Has personal familial or professional experience in overcoming significant geopolitical and/or socio economic challenges that can serve as an inspiration to those who aspire to do the same.
Has demonstrated expertise in leading designing implementing and measuring successful social programs in disparate rural areas struggling with inadequate resources.
Has built consensus and alignment among competing interests to drive support for plans and initiatives as well as carry them out.
Has demonstrated experience linking disparate groups that share common goals and leveraging combined resources to develop programs that measurably improved lives and strengthened communities.
Is transparent intuitive ambitious curious deliberate entrepreneurial empathetic assertive confident collaborative willing to listen open to change and challenge forthright truthful and passionate about doing the right thing.

Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in business administration or other applicable field of study or equivalent experience.
Five or more years of leadership/management experience.

Salary at $225k depending on experience.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to perform computerbased tasks ad processing up to 8 hours including sitting or standing mousing interacting with information on a computer monitor.
Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 35 pounds regularly.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee will primarily work in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
