Welcome to The Colonnade!The Colonnade Hotel is an independent hotel centrally located in Bostons historic Back Bay and features 285 stylishly appointed guest rooms and luxury suites. The Colonnade Hotel is known for its attentive service and unique guest offerings including Bostons only Roof Top swimming pool.
If you are an experienced selfdriven and motivated Maintenance Engineerthis could be a great position for you. Previous maintenance work in a hotel/restaurant is preferred but not required.
What were looking for:
A highquality experiencedMaintenance Engineer to join our existing incredible maintenance team is crucial to the hotels success! This position is responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms meeting space and front of the house areas.
What the job is like:
- Perform repairs on mechanical electrical kitchen and laundry equipment requiring some skills and experience in these areas
- Prepare and paint surfaces of building structure furniture and equipment using proper application techniques and various products.
- Knowledge in plaster or spackle applications drywall installation repair and finishing mixing paint colors to match existing colors and applying paint to all.
- Install and repair covered wall and ceiling surfaces throughout the Hotel. Perform all duties required as Fire Alarm Response Team.
Skills Abilities and Experience needed to be successful:
- A minimum of one year building maintenance experience is required with hotel experience preferred.
- Good customer skills are also required.
- Possess visual ability to identify colors and patterns measure lengths and quantities and assess areas for repair.
- Must be able to speak read write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Requires good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Must have all around skills and be able to make minor electrical plumbing a/c painting wallpaper and carpentry repairs.
- Knowledge of vinyl paper fabric and wall coverings of various weights is preferred
- Must possess a high level of accuracy and neatness.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Licenses or Certificates
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses certificates or permits.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must have the ability to bend squat and frequently lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers 10F) and kitchens 110F) possibly for one hour or more.
- Must be able to stand and exert wellpaced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
- Must be able to exert wellpaced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
- Must be able to bend stoop squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning and repair/maintenance tasks.
- Requires grasping writing standing sitting walking repetitive motions bending climbing listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
